The Belmont Stakes is an American Grade I stakes Thoroughbred horse race held every June at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. It is a 1.5-mile (2.4 km) horse race, open to three year old Thoroughbreds. Colts and geldings carry a weight of 126 pounds (57 kg); fillies carry 121 pounds (55 kg). The race is the third and final leg of the US Triple Crown, following five weeks after the Kentucky Derby, and three weeks after the Preakness Stakes.

The Empire State Building Run-Up is an annual foot race from the ground level to the 86th-floor observation deck of the Empire State Building. This event has been held annually since 1978. The race covers a vertical distance of 1,050 feet (320 m) and takes in 1,576 steps. Race participants are referred to both as runners and as climbers. The record time is 9 minutes and 33 seconds, achieved by Australian professional cyclist Paul Crake in 2003.

The New York City Marathon, Officially known as the ING New York City Marathon, is New York's annual marathon that runs through all five boroughs of New York City. At 42.195 km (26.219 mi), it is one of the world's great road races, drawing more than 100,000 applicants annually. The race is held on the first Sunday of November and attracts professional competitors and amateurs from all over the world.

The US Open, officially named the United States Open Tennis Championships is the biggest event in professional tennis. Since 1987, the US Open has been the fourth and final tennis major comprising the Grand Slam. The other three major events are the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon. The US Open is held annually in August and September over a two-week period (the weeks before and after Labour Day weekend).

The Westminster Dog Show is one of the biggest and most prestigious dog shows in the world. It is a show in which dog owners from around the world bring their dogs to compete in various group categories and are judged by members of the American Kennel Club (AKC). This annual two-day event takes place at Madison Square Garden in the month of February. It is considered to be America's first champions only dog show.
