The South Street Seaport is located on the East side of Southern Manhattan. The Seaport consists of 12 city blocks that feature cobblestone streets lined with shops, tall ships and the famous Pier 17 shopping area. Over 100 shops and restaurants can be found in the restored buildings located along the seaport’s charming cobblestone streets, while historic sailing ships are docked at its piers. The seaport is frequented by many local artists and there are various free music concerts in the summer.

The South Street Seaport

South Street Seaport is located south of the Brooklyn Bridge near the Financial District. The Seaport is usually considered a historical district featuring some of the oldest architecture in downtown Manhattan. It features spectacular views of the Brooklyn Bridge, the East River, Lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty.

Activities at the South Seaport

Along the waterfront you’ll find places to relax, eat, socialize, and for those with bicycles. a bike path along the harbor. Some of the features of the South Street Seaport include cobblestone streets, strolling performers and panoramic views of the harbor. The Seaport offers fantastic views of the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn, and Lower Manhattan’s skyscrapers. The South Street Seaport tends to be pretty busy and crowded, particularly during the summer, when there are plenty of tourists and New York City locals.

Shopping and Eating at the South Street Seaport

South Street Seaport is famous for its restaurants, shopping center, and the old-fashioned sailing boats anchoring the port. You can shop at any of the dozens of stores, some of which include Brookstone, A & F, Coach, GameStop, J Crew and Victoria’s Secret. The Seaport is also home to more than 35 restaurants & eateries.

South Seaport Pier 17

Pier 17 is a historic barge that has been converted into a three story shopping mall with well known shops such as Gap, J.Crew and Abercrombie & Fitch. At the top of the Pier 17 building is an open deck offering great views of the Brooklyn Bridge.
